Today we: had our morning meeting did our word work/small group work practiced our basic facts and practiced multiplication facts did reading and literacy games were introduced to our new "Reading Response Journals" which we will begin next week (will be done as an option during literacy centres time and due every other week)  did our final observations on the borax crystals we made - though students began to ask interesting questions/making connections to previous science experiments (solution to recovery from last week)-- so we created an experiment on our own (will this evaporate or change back to borax and water?)  we will report back next week!  Hello NLS Families,  Today we: started off the day with our  "morning meeting" (first 5 minutes of the day, we discuss a variety of topics with our classmates) - our discussion question of the day was "would you want to change your name? if so, to what?"  did our word work  did balloon games in gym (practicing skills for tennis, badminton and volleyball) played a new math game  practiced various ways to achieve an answer in math - but we determined that some ways were faster than others (e.g., multiplication was faster than skip counting or tallying). Students brought home multiplication charts to practice their basic facts with.  did read to self and literacy centres today  finished our "solution to recovery" lab today and used a google form to fill out our answers.  Hello! Happy Wednesday. We had a busy day today. We: did our word work played scooter curling in gym played a new power of ten math game, a multiplication dice game, and we played multiplication bingo! (see photos below) did reading groups and literacy centres learned all about Canada! We used a map of Canada (in puzzle form) to try and guess the location of all of the provinces (see photos below) - then we all got a copy of a map of Canada which we had to label and colour in - we did this because we are starting to learn about the people that live in Canada, and it's important to know the places in Canada for context and understanding.  Reminders: we unfortunately were not able to go on our winter walk today as it was too cold. We are hopeful that we can go tomorrow! Ms. Clark sent out another school messenger note about this!
