Hello! We made it to spring break! I hope everyone has a wonderful week off!   Today we: finished our multiplication unit task (the donut problem - ask me about it)!  read and played literacy games  played volleyball in gym spent time building in Minecraft for our social studies project  organized all of our materials so when we come back from break, things are ready to go and we can have a fresh start! Reminders: No school until April 3rd (for spring break). Photos:

 Hello, t oday we: continued to work on our donut math problem - we recorded our information in our visual journals! did some fun creative work for imagination day! did literacy centres!  continued to work on Minecraft building Reminders: Tomorrow is the last day of school before spring break! When school is done, students need to go home first and check-in with their parents/guardians, before going to play - we need to make sure everyone gets home safely! The playground is unsupervised after school.  We had to have several reminders today about respectful behaviour - I know it is so close to break and everyone is excited - but please do not shout out in class as it is disruptive to other students learning. Hello! Today we: did a math task in which we had to guess how many donuts were in the box (see photos below) - students used a variety of methods to estimate and solve. did our word work/vocaubulary tasks did reading and literacy centers continued to work on our electricity essays (today our paragraph was what we wonder about electricity) See photos below. started to build our designs in Minecraft (ask me about this)! Today we: did a math check in for multiplication did reading and literacy centres did our word work and vocabulary sorts started writing a mini-essay about electricity (this is our new science unit) continued to learn about chinatown and how this information can impact our designs for our social studies Minecraft project. Ask me about this project!

Hello NLS Families, I first want to give a quick update, I have been quite sick since Thursday afternoon, so I was unable to do blog posts for late last week (sorry about that)! Hello!  Today we: did our word work activities discussed the most commonly used letters in the English language (it was a very good discussion about why students thought that) -- Students! Don't forget to ask your parents/family about what they think the most common letters are! practiced volleyball skills in gym practiced our basic math facts practiced 3 digit by 2 digit multiplication (ex: 345 x 12) did reading and literacy centres learned about paragraph writing (we looked at books and found different types of paragraphs, and learned about how to combine writing into multiple paragraphs played literacy games continued to learn about the history of Chinese immigrants/Chinese heritage in Canada (this is part of our social studies curriculum. Happy Monday! Today we: had our morning meeting played tag games in gym practiced our basic facts in math warm up practiced multiplication (2 digit by 1 digit, 3 digit by 1 digit and 2 digit by 2 digit) did read to self and literacy centres did social studies on Minecraft (we are learning about the City of Calgary and this connects to our curriculum in various ways through playing the Calgary world on Minecraft) had time to play literacy games and prodigy playing "skittles" in gym. doing multiplication practice! Hello! Happy Wednesday. My apologies, yesterday's blog post didn't publish properly (so it never posted). I have include some photos from yesterday in today's blog post. Today we: had an interesting discussion about learning languages, and learned there are over 6900 languages in the world! did our daily word work activities played badminton games in gym class did one final task for factors/multiples played prodigy in math did read to self and literacy centres (and tried some new literacy games the school just recieved)! learned about 4 key words for our next unit in social studies - these words are: vibrant, sustainable, equity and unity (and had a discussion regarding these words, what they mean, and how they relate to our new social studies unit) finished our research about 4 Calgary monuments (for our new social studies unit) finished the day with using razkids, math games or literacy games Reminders: Thursday, March 9th: In-Person Conferences in Evening (4:30pm-8:00pm)
