Hello NLS Families! Today was an exciting day as we went on our Field Trip to TELUS Spark! We had a chance to have a lesson about electricity where we got to test out many different devices, circuits, etc. We also got a chance to explore around the various indoor/outdoor exhibits, which was really amazing! Thank you so much to our volunteers! - we truly appreciate you! See some of the fun we had below! Hello! My apologies for the delayed blog posts, I was dealing with some health concerns this week (I am ok now, just was feeling quite unwell all week). Today we:  continued to work on input output charts, and turning this data into linear equations - see photos below.  did reading groups, independent reading, literacy centres and our daily word work learned about static electricity wrapped up our mini-unit on Indigenous peoples in Canada (as a broader part of our unit on the different people and stories that are in Canada) - see photos below.

Today we: practiced out basic facts and learned/practiced more about linear equations did read to self, literacy centres and reading with Ms. Clark played "Guardians of the Castle" in PE - ask me about this! learned all about circuits in science and actually got to make them!  Hello! Happy Thursday. Today we: continued to learn about patterns in math with input and output tables (and relating this to algebraic expressions which we learned about in term one did our independent reading, reading groups with Ms. Clark and also did literacy centres (see photos below) learned how to take mind-map notes today in social studies (see photos below) - we discussed how to read/listen and determine what facts are important - then, we placed it all on a mind maps continued to learn about health Reminders: we are going on our community walk tomorrow (please see email for more details)- please dress appropriately! tomorrow is wear "blue and green" day for earth day! don't forget to bring a litterless snack tomorrow! Today we: tallied who brought litterless lunches/counted our garbage and who walked to school did an earth day pledge - ask me what my pledge was! practiced our basic facts played "snowman down" in gym learned about short circuits in science class  did an "anthropology activity" in social studies, where we had to look at pictures (from things in the past) and try and guess what they were/how they were used. Tomorrow, we will finish this activity and find out what all of the items were!  continued to learn about health!  Hello!  Hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we:  did a division check-in checked about who brought litterless lunches/who walked to school today played a cooperative game in gym class finished recording our Minecraft videos  did word work, reading and literacy centres did our readers theatre plays! started human sexuality today (for those that did not give permission, they worked on a research project today instead). Reminders: I sent out (2) emails via school messenger earlier this afternoon with some updates re environmental week and our upcoming field trip. Photos:

 Today we: did a gymnastics obstacle course (ask me about how we got to watch our gymnastics skills)! recorded our Minecraft videos (though some people didn't quite finish and will need to finish first thing Monday morning).  practiced division a bit more (we are almost done our unit and will do a long-division check-in next week) - ask me to show you how to do long division this weekend! played literacy games and did independent reading!  also did science reading about electricity Reminders: Monday - dress up as a outdoor enthusiast or something related to nature Wednesday - earth hour in the morning Friday - dress in blue and green (and community walk for electricity)  Walk and Wheelie to school next week in hour of earth day!  Hello all! Today we had a bit of an out-of routine day. We: did gymnastics sequences in gym class made flip grid videos in math for Ms. Clark's "Teach the Teacher: Division Edition" - we had to solve a division question and clearly communicate how to do so practiced our social studies readers theatres today (we will present these on Monday) wrote our scripts for our Minecraft videos - we will record them tomorrow!  Reminders: forms when home about our field trip (to Telus Spark on April 27th) - please send all forms back by April 19th

Today we: continued to work on our long division (see photo below for our method) - we did word problems, small group work, and division challenge questions with a partner! finished our Minecraft builds (see photos below) - tomorrow we will plan our videos to highlight our work learned more about electrical safety and read another chapter from our class read aloud - the book is called "The City of Ember" and we are making visual journal jot notes/illustrations about this (see photo below) did reading, word work, small group work and literacy centres Photos:
