Hello! Happy Valentine's Day to those who celebrate it!

Today we:

  • started off the day with a new routine called "morning meeting" where Ms. Clark puts a discussion question up on the smartboard for us to talk about as we are getting organized for the day - it makes us talk to lots of classmates and think about different topics
  • did our word work
  • did some tricks with balloons in PE
  • did read to self and literacy centres (this is where some students are reading with Ms. Clark and other students are working at a variety of centres (including "work on writing" "partner reading/listening to reading" and "response to reading")
  • revisited our science experiment from yesterday - we discussed it more in depth after we had all completed the tasks
  • handed out our valentines to all of the staff at northern lights and classmates -- this was our community building project over the past few weeks
  • we learned about parts of the djambe drum and we got to learn how to hold and play the drum (and then we played a game)
  • played a game called multiplication capture (this made us practice our multiplication facts)
  • discussed practicing our multiplication facts over the long weekend - tomorrow Ms. Clark will send home some multiplication charts to help
  • learned about happy mail - this is something that Ms. Clark is doing - see the photo below - Ms. Clark will be catching a few students a day with "happy mail" to bring home.

Reminders:
  • There is no school on Thursday, Friday for teachers convention and also no school on Monday for family day.
