Hello! 

Today we:
  • started to learn about statistics and surveys, and what the word "frequency means" 
  • played basketball in gym class
  • read a lot from the city of ember! Ask me about it tonight
  • did some catch-up (for students who needed extra time to complete some tasks) and played prodigy to practice our math facts 
  • did read to self, literacy centres and literacy games
  • talked about effective listening and effective communication in health (and did a reflection about it)
  • talked about our last unit in science, which is weather! Tomorrow we will brainstorm all we know about weather and then dive into that topic further!
Reminders:
  • Thursday, June 15th - wear your favourite outfit to school
  • Bring in a white t-shirt for tie-dying!

Hello! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we: had our morning meeting did our word work played a doubling game in math and continued to practice factors, multiples, and prime/composite numbers did reading, reading groups and literacy centres did a survey to see how the grade 5 classes at NLS were doing (we did this on the computer) continued our discussion about reversible and irreversible changes as well as review about what acids/neutrals/bases are and the PH scale did drumming in music class!

 Today we: -Listened to the story "The Wish Tree" and created wish ornaments for our wish trees at Northern Lights. We will be putting up the trees and placing our ornaments tomorrow during Makerspace. -Learned about four ways to start writing the beginning of a story, including an action, a thought or question, a sound, and dialogue. We wrote a story beginning as a class and practiced writing a story beginning about a camping trip independently. Then we started planning how we will start our pourquoi story beginning with our wetland animal. Reminders: -PJ Day tomorrow. Please do not bring stuffies to school.
