Hello! Happy Wednesday!

Today we:

  • had our morning meeting
  • did our word work and learned about the new sound wall (it helps us with spelling when needed, as well as a bunch of other great benefits that we will continue to discuss)
  • played a game in gym to help us practice with our new badminton skills
  • practiced our basic facts and continued to practice multiples, factors, prime and composite numbers
  • did read to self, literacy centres and worked on our reading response journals (our next RRJ entry is due on Friday, March 3rd).
  • continued to write about our favourite place/the most beautiful place (and learned more about descriptive paragraphs)
  • did drumming in music class!
  • were introduced to our new social studies project about identity
Reminders:
  • booking for parent-teacher-student conferences is open! Conferences are on March 9th (in the evening) and March 10th (during the morning and early afternoon). We encourage all families to meet with us if possible! Mrs. Brinson has sent out a few emails with more information if needed!
  • students were beginning to discuss identity today, and learn about their family history and any cultural/familial traditions - so feel free to discuss at home tonight too!

 Today we: -Continued working on our floor hockey skills through a game called Pin Remover.  We tried to knock over the bowling bins in the middle of the gym by hitting them with our floor hockey ball and earned points every time we were successful. -Completed a wetland assessment to show what we know and finish off our wetlands unit in science. We will be reviewing the assessment together on Monday. -Shared our strategies for solving equations with an unknown variable, including relating division to multiplication. We shared our strategies with others and represented our understandings to solve problems.

  Hello NLS Families! Happy LAST week of school - AND LAST week of Grade 5! The time sure is going fast.
