Hello! Happy Friday and happy long weekend!

Today we:

  • compared and ordered fractions (using a few strategies like drawing factions, making equivalent fractions, or using a number line)
  • did reading, literacy games and word work
  • continued to learn about British North America in social studies - today we got out the textbooks and practiced doing non-fiction research with them. - see photos below
  • talked about safety and responsibility in health class.
Reminders:
  • we still need a few more shoe boxes for our science projects next week - please bring one in if possible
  • NO school on Monday, May 22nd for Victoria Day

Hello! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we: had our morning meeting did our word work played a doubling game in math and continued to practice factors, multiples, and prime/composite numbers did reading, reading groups and literacy centres did a survey to see how the grade 5 classes at NLS were doing (we did this on the computer) continued our discussion about reversible and irreversible changes as well as review about what acids/neutrals/bases are and the PH scale did drumming in music class!

 Today we: -Listened to the story "The Wish Tree" and created wish ornaments for our wish trees at Northern Lights. We will be putting up the trees and placing our ornaments tomorrow during Makerspace. -Learned about four ways to start writing the beginning of a story, including an action, a thought or question, a sound, and dialogue. We wrote a story beginning as a class and practiced writing a story beginning about a camping trip independently. Then we started planning how we will start our pourquoi story beginning with our wetland animal. Reminders: -PJ Day tomorrow. Please do not bring stuffies to school.
