Hello! Today we:

  • continued to work on our long division (see photo below for our method) - we did word problems, small group work, and division challenge questions with a partner!
  • finished our Minecraft builds (see photos below) - tomorrow we will plan our videos to highlight our work
  • learned more about electrical safety and read another chapter from our class read aloud - the book is called "The City of Ember" and we are making visual journal jot notes/illustrations about this (see photo below)
  • did reading, word work, small group work and literacy centres

Hello! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we: had our morning meeting did our word work played a doubling game in math and continued to practice factors, multiples, and prime/composite numbers did reading, reading groups and literacy centres did a survey to see how the grade 5 classes at NLS were doing (we did this on the computer) continued our discussion about reversible and irreversible changes as well as review about what acids/neutrals/bases are and the PH scale did drumming in music class!

 Today we: -Listened to the story "The Wish Tree" and created wish ornaments for our wish trees at Northern Lights. We will be putting up the trees and placing our ornaments tomorrow during Makerspace. -Learned about four ways to start writing the beginning of a story, including an action, a thought or question, a sound, and dialogue. We wrote a story beginning as a class and practiced writing a story beginning about a camping trip independently. Then we started planning how we will start our pourquoi story beginning with our wetland animal. Reminders: -PJ Day tomorrow. Please do not bring stuffies to school.
