We sure have been busy! 

On Tuesday we:

  • Finished our math fraction art by adding our fractions together - see photos below
  • Did reading and literacy centres
  • Had a PRACTICE fire drill
  • Did our final words their way assessment
  • Did our final power of ten check-in
  • Continued our social research - see photos below
  • Practiced finding symmetry
On Wednesday we:
  • Continued to practice adding and subtracting fractions in a variety of ways
  • Read part of our read aloud novel, The City of Ember
  • Continued to work on finding symmetry
  • Continued our social research project 
  • had read to self time and literacy centres 
Reminders:
  • No school Friday! 
  • Remember to bring in a WHITE T SHIRT FOR TIE DYING! ALL GRADE 5 STUDENTS WILL BE DOING THIS!

Hello! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we: had our morning meeting did our word work played a doubling game in math and continued to practice factors, multiples, and prime/composite numbers did reading, reading groups and literacy centres did a survey to see how the grade 5 classes at NLS were doing (we did this on the computer) continued our discussion about reversible and irreversible changes as well as review about what acids/neutrals/bases are and the PH scale did drumming in music class!

 Today we: -Listened to the story "The Wish Tree" and created wish ornaments for our wish trees at Northern Lights. We will be putting up the trees and placing our ornaments tomorrow during Makerspace. -Learned about four ways to start writing the beginning of a story, including an action, a thought or question, a sound, and dialogue. We wrote a story beginning as a class and practiced writing a story beginning about a camping trip independently. Then we started planning how we will start our pourquoi story beginning with our wetland animal. Reminders: -PJ Day tomorrow. Please do not bring stuffies to school.
