Hello! Happy Thursday!

Today we:

  • played tag games in gym class
  • practiced converting improper fractions to mixed fractions, and mixed fractions to improper fractions
  • did reading and word work
  • learned about British North America in social studies
  • watched a Bill Nye video about magnetism!

Reminders:

  • there IS school tomorrow (Friday, May 19th)
  • NO school on Monday, May 22nd (Victoria Day)
  • 5C! Please bring in a shoebox if you have one for a project we are starting next week!

Hello! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we: had our morning meeting did our word work played a doubling game in math and continued to practice factors, multiples, and prime/composite numbers did reading, reading groups and literacy centres did a survey to see how the grade 5 classes at NLS were doing (we did this on the computer) continued our discussion about reversible and irreversible changes as well as review about what acids/neutrals/bases are and the PH scale did drumming in music class!

 Today we: -Listened to the story "The Wish Tree" and created wish ornaments for our wish trees at Northern Lights. We will be putting up the trees and placing our ornaments tomorrow during Makerspace. -Learned about four ways to start writing the beginning of a story, including an action, a thought or question, a sound, and dialogue. We wrote a story beginning as a class and practiced writing a story beginning about a camping trip independently. Then we started planning how we will start our pourquoi story beginning with our wetland animal. Reminders: -PJ Day tomorrow. Please do not bring stuffies to school.
