 Hello NLS Families,

Today we:

  • learned about equivalent fractions (e.g., 1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6 = 4/8, and so on)
  • played dodgeball in gym class 
  • did reading groups, word work, literacy centres and read to self
  • watched a video about voyageurs, and then wrote a diary entry from the perspective of a voyageur - see photos below
  • began to wrap up our music theory unit - see photos below
  • had a fire drill - it went well! 

Reminders:
  • May 22nd - No School (Victoria Day)
  • May 24th - Spirit Day (Career Day - Students can dress up like what they want to be when they grow up)
  • May 29th - No School (PD Day)

  Today we worked on our word work groups for the last time in 2022 We played mission impossible in the gym In math we finished our grocery shopping decimal addition assignments. In writing we finished our flip grids and typing out our wetland story. We worked in our reading cafe groups, the lesson group focused on finding or, ar and aw words in the text. We did chemistry with hot chocolate and learned about solvents and solutes then we watched a movie and enjoyed our science experiment!

 Hello!  Hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we:  did a division check-in checked about who brought litterless lunches/who walked to school today played a cooperative game in gym class finished recording our Minecraft videos  did word work, reading and literacy centres did our readers theatre plays! started human sexuality today (for those that did not give permission, they worked on a research project today instead). Reminders: I sent out (2) emails via school messenger earlier this afternoon with some updates re environmental week and our upcoming field trip. Photos:

 Welcome! We are so excited to be starting the 2022-2023 year!  This year, our whole school will continue to use Blogger to make our daily agenda posts. To make it easier for you, you can add the blog right on to the home screen of your phone or iPad by following the directions on the “Adding Blogger to Home Screen” document Mrs. Brinson sent out on August 26 in her first Northern Lights News email. We hope this makes the communication between home and school easier and opens up great conversations between you and your child.
